美国法学学者Charles Wharton受邀赴我校举行讲座
10月8日晚18:30,美国法学学者、人民大学法学助理教授Charles Wharton的题为“美国宪法:产生背景及五个关键问题”的讲座在实验楼502举行。
讲座中,Charles Wharton教授充满激情的展示了平等与个性的美国精神。他从美国的历史讲起,提出影响美国进程的四件大事(Declaration of Independence 1776. Articles of Confederation 1781. US Constitution 1789. Bill of Rights 1791.)都与法律制度的建构有着紧密的联系,引导学生思考两者间深层联系。Charles Wharton教授还引入了美国宪法中重点探究的5个关键问题,即权力的制约与平衡、政府的规模、个体的权利及平等权利,通过对这五个问题的深入分析展示美国的制度构架与权利分享,进一步激发学生的探究精神与对法学的热情。
深厚的专业知识,敏锐的法学思维,配合丰富的面部表情与肢体语言,幽默的谈吐与机智的问答,Charles Wharton教授的出色展示使502教室掌声不断。不仅教室内座无虚席,教室外也挤满了听课的学生。

Charles Wharton is an Assistant Professor of Law at Renmin
University of China. He is a 2012 honors graduate of the Harvard Law
School Juris Doctor program and a 2008 valedictorian and high honors
graduate (BA) of the University of Florida, with a major in political
science. At Harvard Law School, he foc7nL9sd extensively on research of
comparative disability law for the HLS Project on Disability. In
collaboration with Chinese companies, social groups and university
scholars and students in cities across the nation including Beijing,
Shanghai, Nanjing, Changsha, and Shenzhen, he has investigated
employment conditions for people with disabilities in China.
Charles also has a wide range of 1z9W3itional work experience in
legal jobs in America, including working for a large corporate law
firm and in multiple court offices. He served as a student lawyer in
the HLS Eviction Defense Housing Law Clinic during the Spring of 2011.
Charles has published articles on immigration in Spain and Chinese
disability rights and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a National
Merit Scholar.
